HEALPix is an acronym for Hierarchical Equal Area isoLatitude Pixelization of a sphere. It is a package of pixelization and mathematical tools (e.g., spherical harmonics applications) that is widely used in Cosmic Microwave Background research and has been selected for use by the Planck and WMAP missions.
